AI Policy

AI Writing Policy

Authors must declare the use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the manuscript preparation process upon submission to the Jurnal Ilmiah Teknologi Informasi dan Robotika (JIFTI).

JIFTI recognizes the potential of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies (“AI Tools”), when used responsibly, to support researchers in improving research efficiency, synthesizing literature, identifying research gaps, generating ideas, organizing content, and improving language and readability.

Authors preparing manuscripts for JIFTI may use AI Tools as supporting tools. However, AI Tools must not be used as a substitute for human critical thinking, expertise, judgment, and scholarly evaluation. The use of AI must always remain under appropriate human oversight and control.

Authors remain fully responsible and accountable for the content of their manuscripts. This includes responsibility for:

  1. Carefully reviewing and verifying the accuracy, completeness, and impartiality of all AI-generated content, including checking references and sources because AI-generated citations may be inaccurate, incomplete, or fabricated.
  2. Thoroughly editing and adapting AI-assisted material to ensure that the manuscript represents the authors’ authentic and original contribution and reflects their own analysis, interpretation, insights, and ideas.
  3. Ensuring transparency regarding the use of AI Tools or other supporting technologies. When AI Tools have been used in manuscript preparation, authors must provide a disclosure statement upon submission.
  4. Ensuring that the use of AI Tools complies with data privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, copyright, and other applicable rights. Authors are responsible for reviewing the terms and conditions of any AI Tool they use.
  5. Not listing or citing an AI Tool as an author or co-author. Authorship implies responsibilities, accountability, and scholarly contributions that can only be attributed to humans.

Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies

The use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation must be declared when the manuscript is first submitted.

The declaration should be included in a separate section placed before the References section and will appear in the published article.

Section title:

Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Manuscript Preparation Process

Example statement:

During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL/SERVICE] for [PURPOSE/REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed, verified, and edited the content as necessary and take full responsibility for the content of the published article.

This declaration is not required for basic tools used solely for routine grammar checking, spelling correction, formatting, or reference management, provided that such tools do not generate substantial manuscript content or scholarly interpretation.

If no generative AI or AI-assisted technology was used, no declaration is required.

Use of AI in Peer Review and Editorial Processes

To protect authors’ rights, confidentiality, intellectual property, and unpublished research information, JIFTI does not permit reviewers or editors to upload submitted manuscripts, manuscript excerpts, reviewer reports, editorial correspondence, or other confidential materials into publicly accessible generative AI or AI-assisted services, including ChatGPT or similar systems, for the purpose of peer review or manuscript evaluation.

Reviewers and editors remain personally responsible for their evaluations, recommendations, and editorial decisions.

JIFTI may revise this policy in the future as secure, confidential, and compliant AI-assisted tools become available and appropriate standards for their use are established.
